Männa investigates self-staging, identity and body in the loop of consumerist culture. The dental grill is a living symbol in popular culture, roots in the Mayan civilisation's ancient era. In the early 1980s, the hip-hop artists of New York embraced grills as the status of wealth and the jewellery gained popularity again.
Latex fetish is also an extreme example of western consumerism. In welfare societies, people cannot fill their desires with monogamy. We have invented extreme forms of fetishes, which have grown organically since the underground 1980's gay party scene.
